Classical Modern Mix

Trust me, I love wandering through the period rooms at the Met. I find it fascinating to see how the rooms and furniture were arranged and to envision how the rooms were used in the past. However in the 21st century, with regards to interiors, nothing inspires me more then a space that has a foot in the past and one in the future. A truly classical modern mix! For example, I find the juxtaposition of a Cy Twombly or Lucio Fontana painting hanging above an intricate, neoclassical console table to be really exciting. Or a large scale Anish Kapoor sculpture floating on 18th century boiserie. Its that tension and the relationship between the two that create the intrigue for me. I have included some of my favorite interiors, and people, that reflect such an approach. A perfect marriage of past and present!
