One of the most beautiful, original and extraordinary shows of the season was the recent Sala Bianca 945 show presented by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino. The event (see here) was held at the Whitney Museum of American Art. The show pays homage to Valentino’s famous white collection from 1962. In fact, Jacqueline Kennedy chose one of the dresses for her wedding to Aristotle Onassis, launching Valentino’s career into the stratosphere. One of the most iconic photo images from the collection is shown below in the studio and home of Cy Twombly in Rome.  One of the chicest fashion images ever.
The Haute Couture collection is a tribute to purity of line and form, subtle and surprising contrasts in the fabrics and of course sublime craftsmanship. Seeing the show inspired me to think about some of my all time favorite white rooms that also represent the elements from the collection. Of course many of my favorite white rooms are from Stephen Sills!
